As a Cavoodle puppy owner, finding the perfect crate has been a priority for me. I made sure to choose a crate that allows my puppy to grow comfortably, with enough space to move around.

Durability was essential, so I opted for a well-built wire crate with secure latches. Easy cleaning became a priority during potty training, and a crate with a removable tray made my life much easier.

Safety features like rounded corners and proper ventilation gave me peace of mind. Lastly, I considered my budget and found a crate that balanced quality and affordability.

My Cavoodle puppy loves their crate and feels safe and cozy inside.

Crate training is a method of creating a safe, personal space in your home for your dog.

It uses your dog’s natural instincts to construct a den, a safe haven in which to sleep and hide.

Although adult dogs can be crate trained, the best time to begin is when your dog is a puppy.

Crate training has many practical advantages, and it can be especially beneficial for puppies in terms of toilet training and preventing destructive or undesirable behaviours.

Choosing the Perfect Crate for your Cavoodle Puppy

At a vet’s clinic, for example, or while travelling, all dogs will need to spend time crated at some point.

Dogs, as well as their owners, might benefit from getting acclimated to spending quiet time in a crate.

The ideal crate for your dog, and the successful crate training necessary to get the most out of it, require some time and thought beforehand.

Dogs are dependent on their owners to provide them with a secure environment; they need to know that they are loved and that they have a place to sleep that is both warm and cosy.

When used in an appropriate manner, a dog box will serve this purpose.

If you have any questions or would need any additional information on which crate would be ideal for your dog, then please get in touch with us in the comments section below or by sending us an email. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your brand-new dog crate!

Please note that these recommendations are approximate and may vary depending on the individual Cavoodle’s size and preferences.

Cavoodle Size (Weight)Recommended Crate Size
Up to 10 pounds24″ (length)
11-20 pounds30″ (length)
21-30 pounds36″ (length)
31-40 pounds42″ (length)

It’s always a good idea to measure your specific dog’s length, height, and width to ensure the crate provides enough space for them to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.

1. Get the correct size

You should always remember that your dog needs enough space to stretch out while resting on his side, as well as the ability to rise up smoothly, without bumping his head.

It’s better to have a crate that’s a touch too large than one that is too little. As cavoodles are small breed dogs,

24″ Dog Crate Sizes for Small Dog Breeds

24” (61cm) dog crates are the best size for small breeds Like cavapoo weighing between 11-25 lbs and ranging from around 13”-17” in height..

Small 24” Crate

The Small 24” Crate is the smallest crate. It is a popular choice for puppies when they are still little. It may be suitable for the following small breeds:

  • Cavapoo
  • Chihuahua
  • Pomeranian
  • Pug
  • Toy Poodle
  • Yorkshire Terrier
  • Havanese

Medium 30” Crate

The Medium 30” Crate is the second smallest crate. It may be suitable for:

  • Corgi
  • French Bulldog
  • Jack Russell Terrier
  • Maltese Terrier
  • Scottish Terrier
  • Shih Tzu

2. Design And Layout Of The Crate

Stay away from using crates made of soft cloth for your dog. Your daring new puppy will figure out a way out of these situations very fast, and he or she may even consider the difficulty of the situation as a game.

Wooden crates, in general, are cumbersome and difficult to move because of their size. If you take your dog on vacation with you, the best crate for him to travel in is a foldable, compact metal kennel that can fit into the trunk of your vehicle.

What type of dog crate should I purchase  for My Cavoodle

Cavoodles like a modest 24′′/61cm crate as their preferred crate size.

Given that a cavoodle is a cross-bred dog, there is a great deal of variation in their body proportions, making it essential for owners to measure their cavoodle’s height and length, and then add 5-10cm to each measurement for crate measures.

Choosing the Perfect Crate for your Cavoodle Puppy

How are the dog crates selected?

There are three common types, and for different things, each is best:

1. wire dog crates

2. airline-safe crates

3. Soft (fabric) crates and carriers.

This blog will describe each type and will illustrate its uses. I’ll also talk about selecting your dog’s right size.

There’s a section on dog beds inside the Crate and instructions to sew a cloth cover for a rectangular crate.

Don’t miss my page which tells you how to do puppies and dog crate training.

There are also alternatives to crate training, including a discussion of ex-styles, which can in some ways be used as crates. However, they’re not as safe.

Factors to ConsiderDescription

By considering these factors, you can choose a crate that suits your Cavoodle’s needs, providing them with a safe and comfortable space they can call their own.

Choosing the Perfect Crate for your Cavoodle Puppy

1. Wire Dog Crates

Wire dog crates are frequently used in homes and vehicles. They provide the best ventilation, so in warm weather, they are the best choice, especially for overheated breeds.

Consider how easily a dog’s escape artist would get out in selecting wire dog crates—does the door tighten well?

Well,  is the Crate made strong and how robust? What can you do and put it down? How easily we had boards that lasted much over 10 years.

So any price difference (if you do) is forgotten much before you leave the board.

Many dog crate marks offer a movable obstacle so that only part of the crate can be used if a puppy is trained. You yourself can do that.

2. Airline-safe Dog Crates

Of course, airline-safe dog crates are for aviation… But some people like them also for daily use over the wire crates.

The dog can’t see so much outside, and if the dog is timid or shy, he may like a more comfortable feeling.

Some of the crates can be tilted more easily in this category than the cable crates.

As companies change their regulations, before you receive a new cabinet, it is a good idea to check with the aviation company exactly what they need.

Some of them are when you take a small dog with you into the cabin.

The moving plastic dog carton is a remarkable item that complies with almost all of the airline endorsement directions, with the exception of just one.

It features a pair of four moving wheels, which IATA regulations advise should not be used. In any event, the manufacturer has thought of everything, including your safety, because those wheels may be removed.

Pros:
  • Approved for use by airlines (only if there are no wheels)
  • A bowl for food and water is included in the purchase price.
  • air vents that are suitable and have a metal grill covering them.
  • With its two grips on top, it's quite easy to handle.
Cons:
  • Inside is difficult to clean completely.
  • The body of the crate is not designed to sustain severe blows.
  • This environment is not conducive to rowdy canines.

3. Soft Dog Crates and Carriers

If you’ve got a little crate-skilled dog who doesn’t chew on fabric and isn’t going to try to claw out if he gets upset, try one.

The soft dog crates look pretty nice and the weight is very light. This is a soft side carriage example. Here is an example.

For quite small dogs, the carrier is best, but the soft-sided boxes are also good for medium dogs.

Puppies under six months of age shouldn’t stay in a crate for more than three or four hours at a time.

They can’t control their bladders and bowels for that long.

The same goes for adult dogs that are being housetrained.  Physically, they can hold it, but they don’t know they’re supposed to.

Crate your dog only until you can trust him not to destroy the house. After that, it should be a place he goes voluntarily.

Selecting the Right Size Dog Crate for your Cavoodle

Dog crates come in a number of sizes so that the animal and your situation fit well.

If your dog is a puppy, it’ll seem like it’s big if it’s full in size. You can find out their sizes when you get them from someone with parents.

If he’s a known breed, the breeder or breed books can tell you the normal adult sizes for males and females.

His adult tallness may be a surprise if he’s a mixed race of a shelter! Guess on the large side…

The Best Places to Keep a Dog Crate in Your Home

Is it appropriate to have a dog kennel in a bedroom?

It is strongly recommended that you bring your dog into your bedroom, particularly if you are caring for a small puppy or a dog that suffers from separation anxiety and needs to be soothed at night.

However, this may result in disturbed sleep for you and your partner.

Aside from that, it’s a really warm and comfortable place to keep a crate.

Is it OK to have a dog kennel in the living room?

In addition to the living room, the kitchen is a perfect place to keep a dog cage since it is a heavy-traffic area, which means your dog will be able to see what is going on around them and feel like a part of the family.

However, the downside is that it is a vast, draughty room that is likely to be cool in the evening.

Keeping the Dog Crate in Your Home

As you and your dog are going to be using this cage for the next ten to fifteen years, you should pick one that is of good quality, durable enough to last that long, and attractive enough to you that you won’t hate looking at it. .

Choose a location for your dog’s crate where he or she will feel like a member of the family but will also be out of the way of the action and distractions of the household.

You should make it a point to find a location that is noticeably darker than the rest of the space; for example, behind the kitchen table or to the side of a sofa that is positioned in the corner of the room.

Make sure there are no potential dangers in the area immediately surrounding the dog cage. You do not want anything hazardous, such as large ornaments or kitchen knives, to fall on your dog through the crate.

Move the crate to a location that is less hazardous if there is something around that your dog could get to with his tongue or paws.

You should make sure that there is adequate ventilation flowing around your dog and his crate so that he does not become overheated or underheated.

It is essential that your dog has a feeling of security, warmth, and comfort at all times. Place your dog’s preferred sleeping area inside the crate to make it feel more like home for him.

Wrapping up

In conclusion, selecting the perfect crate for my Cavoodle puppy has been crucial for their comfort and safety. I prioritized their growth by choosing a spacious crate and ensured its durability with strong materials and secure locks.

Easy cleaning features made crate training and accidents less stressful for both of us. Safety considerations like rounded corners and proper ventilation brought me peace of mind.

And, of course, finding a crate that fit my budget was important.

Ultimately, my Cavoodle puppy enjoys their crate as a cozy and secure space they can call their own. It’s been a worthwhile investment for their well-being and our bond.
